Posted on by Per Ivar Nicolaisen

It seems like our tagged geese do not like each other. Lots of reorganization up North but it seems like each goose found its place. Four out of six tagged geese were seen with a pair and about other two we do not have data. So now it is all about finding a nice place for nest………

All 6 birds are ‘with us’ again. 5 in Svalbard (one in Sassendelen, one in Adventdalen, one in Tempelfjorden, one in Isfjord Radio and one on Edgeøja) and one on its way. Note that the ‘pink’ goose did not even stop in Vesterålen.

Geese arrival in Vesterålen

Lots of pinkfeets arriving this afternoon/evening (15th of May) in Vesterålen. Ingunn spotted the Red-breasted goose in Grytting area, and of course I had to go out to watch this beautiful bird – great experience :-)) So now, I am looking forward to going to Andøya this night, to see whether some pfeets have landed. Only 100 pf and 2200 barnacles in the afternoon (15th of MAy) – I have expectations ! :-)

Still many geese in Trondheimsfjorden area

During friday we observed lots of geese leaving the Trondheimsfjorden area and started migrating to the north. Also did lots of dropping counts and grass messurements (Carolines studies).

Count of droppings

Many pink-footed geese have arrived Adventdalen, Spitsbergen, so things are really happening right now.  We believe Trondheimsfjorden area will be more or less empty during a few days…..(but we never now……..)
